She has taught classes at numerous conferences and leadership institutes for the St. Augustine Presbytery. As the moderator of the theological competence exam task group for PC(USA), she writes and administers theology exams for seminary students seeking ordination.

Pastor Susan loves to preach and brings energy, vitality and a wonderful sense of humor to the pulpit.  In her free time, she enjoys reading, movies, theater, and especially singing. Although much of her family is scattered across the globe, from Georgia to

Virginia to Germany she loves spending time with her dad, 3 brothers and all their families and at home enjoys her two cats.

Secretary

Kathy Carter

Kathy brings a cheerful and willing attitude to our office with a desire for perfection.  Previous experience working in an Episcopal church office is an asset as she adjusts to a new pastor, new procedures and new software.

Choir Director

Sheila Phillips

Our music director is Sheila Phillips who moved from Alabama 10 years ago and now resides with her husband, William Phillips, in The Villages. She and Bill are both rabid University of Alabama football fans. Sheila has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Murray State University in Kentucky. She also has a Masters of Music from Northern Illinois University located in DeKalb. She continued her education earning a degree from The University of Alabama as an Education Specialist.

Sheila says that her favorite vacation destination is going to the mountains and it's no wonder that one of her favorite experiences in life was studying music at the American School in Switzerland. Her many activities include playing golf and reading. She also enjoys watching The University of Kentucky play basketball. When asked why music wasn't a favorite hobby, Sheila responded by saying, “Music isn't a hobby, it's an obsession”. The First Presbyterian Church is lucky to have such a committed person as Sheila Phillips.

Accompanist

Eunice Mosier

Eunice Mosier attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan where she studied under concert artist Owen Berger, majoring in instrumental music (oboe & piano).  After a hiatus to raise two daughters, her education was resumed at Wayne State University in Detroit, graduating with a degree in vocal music.  Eunice taught vocal music in public schools for some 15 years before retiring.  Eunice played piano with the Hawthorne Community Orchestra (Leesburg) and accompanied the Hawthorne chorus, each, for the past fourteen years as well as several brass and string ensembles. She now enjoys being a part of the service at First Presbyterian Church working with Shiela Phillips.
